Let me just state that I am in no way a make-up expert, I just know what I like and what works for me and since some of you have asked for a make-up post, I thought I'd do a quick one! So here it goes...
I use Laura Mercier Secret Concealer and Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage to hide dark circles and blemishes after I apply sunblock. It works really well for me, especially because I have dry skin skin under my eyes... actually I have dry skin in general. For foundation, I've been using Maybelline Pure Makeup for years. I mix two shades to get the right color for my skin, I don't know if you're supposed to do that but there's nothing worst than foundation that doesn't match your neck. I love this foundation because it's so light, almost like a tinted moisturizer. It's been discontinued, but luckily I stocked up when I discovered leftovers on Amazon. I use a lot of drugstore products- Maybelline Volum' Express The Falsies mascara is the best. I love piling on layers of it! An eyelash curler by Shu Uemura is a must- I am convinced that eyes do not look half as good without curled eyelashes. Most days I wear concealer and mascara only, but sometimes I like to be fancy and do a brown smokey eye. I love brown smokey eyes! I use Urban Decay's primer potion because my eyelids are oily (even though the rest of my face is dry... doesn't make sense to me). Josie Maran and Lorac make my favorite eyeshadows -I like using a Q-tip to apply Lorac's brown shimmery eyeshadow to my lower lid. I mentioned on twitter how much I love brown eyeliner and Make Up For Ever makes a really good chestnut brown one that I smudge all around my eye. It's perfect for daytime, no raccoon eyes whatsoever. My best friend got me some Nars blush in Amour for my birthday so I just use a little bit of that. On special occasions, I like to mix it with Kevyn Aucoin's Celestial Viel powder on my cheekbones for a "special glow." People always ask me what lip color I use, but I mostly stick to Kiehl's lip balm (which my best friend also bought me). Whenever I do apply lip color though, I wear Purple Lab's lip stain in Rich Jerk, it's a perfect natural-looking berry color. Red lipsticks are fun to wear, but I'm still not a huge fan of it. I have a couple shades of red lip sticks and they're by Make Up For Ever. And lastly, for my nails I always feel better when I stick to different hues of red from dark cranberry reds to corals and orangey-reds. My go-to is Revlon's Craving Coral or Essie's Geranium . Lately though I've just been keeping my nails well-groomed and dabbing on some clear polish here and there.
